Appalachian Matriarchs Art Exhibition

Accepting Submissions: Apri1 1, 2027 - July 1, 2027

Application Fee: FREE

Artists from across Appalachia are invited to create and submit a personal work of visual art that reflects their vision and experience of Appalachian matriarchy. The application will include space to submit a photo and description of a celebrated matriarch from the artist’s life. The use of AI art is expressly prohibited. Art must be original and come from the artist’s own vision.

Once submissions are closed, a panel of Appalachian jurors will review all submissions and select works to be showcased in the final community-curated gallery. Artists will be personally notified via email and sent instructions for how to transport their art to the show.

All selected artworks will be displayed alongside b&w prints of their accompanying photo submissions and artist statements.

Artists will be required to transport their work to and from the show. Artwork must arrive exhibition-ready.

Judges will review all artwork in-person and confer to select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners, along with two honorable mentions, to be announced during the reception on October 1, 2027.
